Make the chore of dusting effective and quick with the following tricks on improving dusting techniques.

Furniture polish should be used on wooden surfaces as these benefit from added protection and shine. Using furniture polish on painted and matte surfaces can actually damage the surface in long term. All you need to dust perfectly is damp microfiber cloth.

Depending on how dusty your home is, deep clean it at least once a year. Especially hard to reach places accumulating dust and dirt all year long. It could take some time to deep clean these places so it’s best to do one room at a time. Use a paintbrush and cotton swabs to deeply clean hard to reach places.

Always start from the top and work your way down. Clean ceiling cobwebs, top of curtains, lights etc. wiping the dust methodically and covering all surfaces. Don’t forget to dust air vents and skirting boards.

If you have ornaments or picture frames on shelves or furniture, take them down and dust under them too. You don’t have to do this every week but once a month should be adequate. You can even clean ceramics in hot, soapy water. Use a clean cloth or cotton swabs to deeply clean wooden materials. Any gadgets and TV screens are best dusted using a dry cloth.
