The rule number one is to vacuum first and them mop. Mopping a floor covered in dust and dirt just spreads it around.
Many people think that more soap means cleaner floors but the truth is, using too much leaves a sticky residue behind which can trap more dirt and dust. Always choose a cleaner recommended by your floor type and use the recommended amount.
Floors that are sealed with polyurethane should be cleaned with mild or pH neutral soap diluted in water. Use a damp, almost dry, mop for waxed floors and mop only once a week. Water on waxed hardwood floors may cause warping.
Avoid excessive water usage as it may seep underneath the laminate planks. Clean laminate floors using damp mop. Don’t use commercial cleaners with polish.
The best cleaning solution is a solution of apple cider vinegar and water. Vinegar’s acidity removes dirt without leaving a residue. It also disinfects at the same time.
Use a mild cleaner or mix a few drops of dish soap with hot water in a clean spray bottle and then spray the surface in sections. Then use clean water to wipe the floor with a dampened mop.
Use a pH neutral, non chelating cleaner that doesn’t react with the stone’s minerals. Don’t use bleach, ammonia, vinegar because even a small amount could damage the seal.
The most effective cleaner is a solution of white vinegar and water. It eliminates odours and it’s a non toxic cleanser that you can use if you have pets and children.
